SUPPORTED BY PIXKIT
The notion that robotic and mechanical technology is inherently lifeless has been a long-standing belief.
If a robot possesses “independent consciousness,” will it autonomously make decisions like humans?
Machine Awakening
Robot Personification Challenge
There are varying perspectives on this matter — some view it as a chance for growth, while others perceive it as a potential risk. As we look towards the future, we must consider whether our planet will continue to rely on carbon-based systems or shift towards silicon-based alternatives as Asimov said.
Can we envision a future where humans and machines coexist in symbiotic harmony?
We plan to seek answers by launching another global challenge: Another Competition.
The 2023 theme of the challenge is “Machine Awakening”, which is to form “another” intelligent life.
Teams will be required to train AI with a different “personality”, which would be like putting a “soul” on the robot to perform socially valuable tasks.
Another competition is a robotic challenge that invites students from universities all over the world to participate for mobility purposes. It is a challenge, but it is more akin to an academic gala in the field of robotics and mechanical engineering. PIX Moving will provide PIXKIT, an R&D kit for autonomous driving designed for developers and educational institutions.
“Another” will be an annual event that will take place from September to March of the following year to solve or address urban development problems through the development of intelligent mobile robots based on PIXKIT.
There will be an online pre-selection, and 20 teams will compete in the final game on-site.
"Another" Requirements
Mobile robot
The mobile robot must be developed based on the 2 PIX Moving developed chassis : PIXKIT Hooke + PIXKIT Bohr
PIXKIT (HookeBohr) is an autonomous driving kit built around a fully wire-controlled skateboard chassis and the Open-Source AD software, Autoware Core/Universe, and the latest ROS2 platform. Under the premise of high hardware and software adaptability, the kit provides a rich development toolchain, autonomous driving function examples, and open-source scenario algorithms, which can really help participants quickly realize algorithm verification, DEMO demonstration, and application implementation, and stimulate more possibilities.
AGI Model
In this competition, participants will develop an artificial general intelligence (AGI) model that excels in a specific control, achieve autonomous control of the provided robot, and fine-tune it to exhibit a unique personality when dealing with ethical dilemmas.
Improving Engineering Knowledge
Engineering and problem-solving skills that can be applied to real-world situations today and in the future are pitted against other talented teams.
We want to bring current research challenges into the classroom and teach engineering workflows to students by solving real-world problems.
Another Competition combines disciplines to promote integrated engineering research and development.
We hope that the competition will assist universities in gaining close collaboration in the industry, access to industry, and corporate support.
To assist universities in producing R&D results, the competition will include global academic forums, paper presentations, and exchanges.

Taking Steps to Reduce Barriers to Innovation
Another will provide participants with an offline innovation centre as well as an autonomous driving education kit — PIXKIT — outfitted with computing power, sensors, in-line controls, and other hardware support, allowing university hackers from all over the world to challenge and collaborate in the field.
